Imagine rolling the dice six thousand times - One relationship - Infinite possibilities
Constellations, written by Nick Payne, is a poignant and playful exploration of love, loss, and the infinite possibilities of human connection.
Constellations is a spellbinding love story about an unlikely romance between Roland, a beekeeper, and Marianne, a string theorist.
After a chance encounter at a barbeque brings them together the possibility of a spark seems unlikely, but what happens next defies the limits of our understanding of time and space.
Their stories are told forwards, backwards and sideways as we explore their theatrical multiverse. They meet at a barbeque. They hit it off, or perhaps they don’t. They go home together, or maybe they go their separate ways.
Unfolding in a series of parallel moments over the course of their relationship, the play explores the infinite trajectories that love can take to bring us together or pull us apart. It examines how every choice we make or don’t make changes the outcome and can lead to another life. Love triumphs or falls on the phrasing of a sentence. It shows how all these possibilities are splayed out before us infinitely.
This Olivier award winning production features the full cast and crew from a successful season in Wellington in 2024, which saw both actors (Lottie Butcher and Ben Rowan) nominated for Excellence In Acting awards by the Wellington District Theatre Federation.
"With its unique blend of wit, humour, and heart, this critically-acclaimed play will leave you pondering the infinite possibilities of love and the universe"
